Primary Job Responsibilities Include (but are not limited to):

  • Providing excellent customer service in person and over the phone
  • Accurately and reliably entering information into the patient database
  • Collecting and updating client and patient information
  • Answering phones, making appointments, relaying messages to doctor and staff
  • Making outbound calls, following up on previous appointments and visits
  • Collecting payment for services in person and over the phone, going over financial estimates with clients
  • Weighing patients and drawing up vaccines
  • Filling prescription requests, discuss medication instructions to owners, notifying clients that prescription are ready for pick up

We are offering an amazing opportunity for flexible, friendly, detail oriented individuals to join our Overnight Emergency Care Team. The overnight emergency receptionist will be focusing on providing excellent customer service, communicating with clients during their emergency visits and over the phone. The ideal candidate is motivated, flexible, able to multitask in a fast paced environment. The ideal candidate also is compassionate, has strong written and verbal communication skills, and is customer service oriented.

Job Qualifications:

  • 2 years of veterinary experience
  • Emergency receptionist experience and some tech experience is preferred but not required

Primary Job Responsibilities Include (but are not limited to):

  • Accurately and reliably enter information into patient database
  • Restrain pets in a manner that allows necessary work to be performed, minimizes patient stress, and ensures their safety and that of other people.
  • Safely and effectively apply and use restraint devices, including muzzles, towels, gloves, etc.
  • Perform in-house lab work
  • Position patients to obtain diagnostic-quality radiographs of skeletal anatomy, internal organs, superficial lesions, or extremities.

Job Summary

The Hospital Administrator is a leader and an integral member of the veterinary Hospital Management Team. The Hospital Administrator partners with the Managing Veterinarians, Administrative Staff and Hospital Leadership Team to provide a smooth and profitable operation by driving revenue and managing costs while creating a hospital culture based on high quality patient care and exceptional customer service. Responsibilities include managing, planning, and coordinating the overall operations of the Client Experience (Reception) and Resort (Boarding & Daycare) for the hospital, and cultivating a supportive and collaborative team environment with all department leads and staff. We are looking for a visionary that can assist this high volume/high growth hospital with its even bigger goals for the future.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Leadership and Planning
    • Acts as a champion for change and identifies, documents, shares, and promotes best practices.
    • Establishes goals for the hospital and staff for the CSR’s and Boarding/Daycare team.
    • Supervises the creation of schedules and manages labor cost to budget in assigned departments.
  • Operations
    • Performs quality checks and reviews of client files.
    • Develops and implements hospital policy, to include OSHA compliance
  • People Management
    • Partners with the Managing Veterinarian and department leads to address staffing needs including hiring, training, reviewing, and disciplining of staff.
    • Implements performance-based incentive and rewards and recognition programs.
    • Manages staff, including grooming and boarding staff if applicable.
    • Tracks and maintains current licensure for all DVMs.
  • Client Service
    • Demonstrates and reinforces the highest level of client service.
    • Resolves client issues and escalations, and oversees client follow-up communication.
    • Drives client visits through strategic client communication and local marketing efforts (i.e. Community).
  • Qualifications:
    • Master’s degree in business or related degree is preferred.
    • Veterinary Medicine experience is preferred, but not required.
    • 5-7 years of experience in an administrative role, including customer service experience and leading a large team.
  • Knowledge and/or experience in the following areas:
    • Multi-functional operations including labor management.
    • Manage time and tasks appropriately and remain flexible with assigned duties.
    • Supervisory and leadership experience.
    • Reporting and data analysis.
    • Problem solving and resolution management skills.
    • Oral and written communication skills.
    • Basic computer skills i.e. Microsoft Office suite (Previous practice management software knowledge preferred).

General Description of Position:

A Veterinary Technician is responsible for client communication, emergency patient triaging, stabilization, and care. Maintain hospitalized patient care, communicate with other staff members and doctors on duty, and be able to handle high stress emergency situations.

Job Requirements/Skills/Physical Demands:

  • Certified or experienced veterinary technician with exceptional client communication, computer, and telephone skills
  • Must effectively be able to read, speak, and write in English. Spanish speaking is a great addition.
  • Must have basic computer literacy skills and be able to handle multiple unrelated tasks simultaneously while working in a busy environment.
  • Must also be able to lift 40 pounds, work on feet, and have a willingness to learn Conejo Valley Veterinary Hospital protocols and procedures.
  • Must be detailed oriented and friendly. Professional appearance required, scrubs are to be worn at all times and are supplied by Conejo Valley Veterinary Hospital.
  • Must be able to work 10-hour day shifts, ranging from a start time of 5am to 9am.
  • Must be able to administer injections, perform venipuncture, take vital signs of animal, and properly restrain animals, including fractious pets, for examination and treatment.
  • Technician must be able to give treatments/medications intravenously, orally, and subcutaneously.
  • Employee must be able to work well independently and in a group. 

Essential Functions:

  • Assist veterinarian in medical procedures using proper restraint; know how to restrain fractious patients, critical patients, and exotic patients
  • Assist veterinarian in surgical procedures, monitor anesthetized patient’s vitals, know emergency protocols for anesthetized patients, using proper aseptic technique, and know recovery protocols for anesthetized patients.
  • Triage emergency walk-ins (know normal vitals), stabilize if needed, and communicate with doctor with triage findings/history of patient
  • Maintain and use medical equipment such as: IDEXX Catalyst, CBC, SediVue DX, VetStat, Abaxis PT/PTT, autoclave, radiology machine, Lifewindow monitoring systems, NiBP machines, and fluid/syringe pumps
  • Perform routine laboratory procedures and analyses in hematology, microbiology, urinalysis, and serology
  • Obtain and prepare samples for outside laboratory analysis
  • Ability to perform jugular venipuncture, saphenous/cephalic venipuncture, and cystocentesis
  • Monitor patients under anesthesia, Induce anesthesia and intubate patient
  • Administer treatments and injections following the instructions of a doctor or a treatment form
  • Initiate emergency procedures, patient stabilization/CPR
  • Maintain records for controlled drugs, anesthesia, transfusions, and critical care
  • Take vital signs of animals including temperature, pulse, and respiration
  • Perform emergency dental radiographs, cleanings, +/- extractions based on qualifications
  • Perform and analyze emergency skin and ear cytologies
  • Perform venous catheterization, venous blood draws, and venous injections
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor or immediate doctor on duty

Work Environment:

Large state of the art animal hospital, hospital staff work in the back of hospital and occasionally will need to work in other departments if needed. There is a high level of client interaction during veterinary technician appointments, schedule doctor appointments, and emergencies – ability to effectively/calmly communicate during high stress situations.

Closed Positions

Position is full time and requires open availability Monday-Sunday from 5am to 8pm. 40 hours per week
